Saskatchewan Winter Games in Prince Albert, Sk --February 16-22, 2014
The Saskatchewan Winter games were held in Prince Albert February 16-22, 2014. This year hockey was once again be a part of the Winter Games. Both Male and Female hockey were represented, with the Male hockey being played Sunday February 16th to Wednesday February 19th and Female hockey being played Wednesday February 19th to Saturday February 22nd.
The Sask First program included the following age groups for the Saskatchewan Winter Games 2014. The Saskatchewan Winter Games age grouping now falls in line with the Hockey Canada Long Term Player Development (LTPD) Stage, Train to Train. The age group classification for hockey to be eligible for participation in the Saskatchewan Winter Games was: Male players born in the year 2000 (1st year Bantam) – Female players born in the years 1999 & 2000 (1st & 2nd year Bantam).
All age eligible players registered in Saskatchewan received an invitation letter from SHA to attend a Sask First District camp which took place December 13-15, 2013. Players participated in the District Camp according to the District that their parent(s) reside in (see district map). Players participated in two practices and two games and a team of 20 players (2 goalies, 6 defence and 12 forwards) were then chosen to represent their district at the Saskatchewan Winter Games. During the Winter Games they will be competing against other districts in a tournament format.
